How we research and review
We rely on official state sources and laws. Guides are drafted in plain language and published only after a named reviewer approves them.
We distinguish state rules from rules that apply only in certain situations, helpful suggestions that are not legal requirements, and information we have not confirmed. We show the circumstances stated in the guide so families can check what applies to them. Unknown information is never presented as "no requirement." We do not publish AI-generated legal summaries without review, and we do not invent testimonials, statistics, or affiliations.
Listings are checked against public sources before approval and show the date they were last checked.
